At the first press conference of Xiaomi Automobile, Lei Jun introduced the core technology of Xiaomi Automobile and the product highlights of the first production car SU7 of Xiaomi in detail in three hours, and also expressed his feelings of building a car on the spot.
Lei Jun said that Xiaomi’s goal is to become the top five automobile manufacturers in the world through 15 to 20 years’ efforts and strive for the all-round rise of China’s automobile industry.

Lei Jun released five core technologies.
"Since the official announcement of building a car in March 2021, the Xiaomi Automobile team has made up its mind to invest ten times, starting from the underlying core technology and seriously making a good car." Lei Jun emphasized Xiaomi’s investment in technology.
At this conference, Lei Jun focused on five self-developed core technologies, such as Xiaomi automobile motor, battery, large die casting, intelligent driving and intelligent cockpit, and claimed to have achieved many world firsts and China firsts in these key areas.
1. Xiaomi HyperEngine, the super motor of Xiaomi
Xiaomi has developed three super motors, HyperEngine V8s and HyperEngine V6/V6s, and adopted many innovative technologies, such as two-way oil-cooled heat dissipation, S-shaped three-dimensional oil circuit design and stepped dislocation design.
Among them, Xiaomi’s self-developed HyperEngine V6/V6s super motor has a rotating speed of 21000rpm. The maximum power and torque of HyperEngine V6 super motor are 299PS and 400N·m, while the maximum power and torque of HyperEngine V6s super motor are 374PS and 500N·m respectively.
HyperEngine V8s super motor has a rotating speed of 27200rpm and a power density of 10.14kW/kg. According to reports, Xiaomi applied for 155 patents for this motor, of which 60 have been authorized.
2. CTB integrated battery technology
According to Lei Jun, the CTB integrated battery of Xiaomi Automobile adopts the design of two-in-one floor cover, inverted battery core, multifunctional elastic interlayer and minimalist wiring harness, which makes the integration efficiency reach 77.8%, the overall improvement is 24.4%, and the height of 17mm is released.
In terms of battery management, Xiaomi Automobile is equipped with ASIL-D full-stack self-developed battery management system with the highest functional safety level, with triple independent redundant monitoring and alarm strategies for thermal runaway and "all-weather" accurate early warning function.
3. Xiaomi Super Die Casting Xiaomi HyperCasting
Xiaomi has developed a 9100t super-large die casting technology-Xiaomi Hypercasting.
According to reports, the cluster equipment covers an area of 840 m, with a total weight of 1050t and a modulus of 9100t t. Xiaomi’s self-developed visual model quality judgment system can complete the inspection within 2 seconds, with 10 times higher efficiency than manual work and 5 times higher precision than elite. With the application of this technology, 72 parts of the back floor of Xiaomi automobile are integrated, 840 solder joints are reduced, the overall weight is reduced by 17%, and the production hours are greatly reduced by 45%.
In terms of material research and development, Xiaomi has developed a high strength, high toughness and heat-free environmental protection die-casting material "Titan alloy".
In addition, the "three-stage maintainable design" was adopted in the die-casting of Xiaomi Automobile: integrated die-casting floor+middle-high speed collapse zone+low speed collapse zone. In the middle and low speed collision, there is no need to replace large die castings; In high-speed collision, this design can meet the 90km/h rear-impact standard, which exceeds the highest standard in the world.
4. Xiaomi Pilot, a full-stack self-developed intelligent driving technology.
Xiaomi automobile adopts adaptive zoom BEV technology, large road model and super-resolution occupation network technology, which constitute three key technologies of Xiaomi intelligent driving.
In terms of hardware, the system is equipped with two NVIDIA Orin high computing power chips, and the comprehensive computing power is as high as 508TOPS. The sensing hardware includes 1 lidar, 11 high-definition cameras, 3 millimeter-wave radars and 12 ultrasonic radars (Max version).
Lei Jun said that Xiaomi’s self-developed intelligent driving technology will rank among the first echelon in the industry in 2024.
5. Xiaomi Smart Cabin
Based on Xiaomi 澎湃 OS, Xiaomi has built a unified visual interaction system, realizing a comprehensive sharing ecosystem from software to hardware.
Xiaomi smart cockpit has the ability to expand ecological applications, including Pad APP sharing, mobile APP sharing and ecological hardware sharing. For example, mobile phone applications can be directly projected on the desktop of the car, and mobile video conferencing can share the camera outside the car.
In addition, Mijia equipment can also get on the bus without feeling. At present, Xiaomi intelligent cockpit has supported 1000+ meters of equipment, automatic discovery, secret-free access, and automatic scenes can be set. Xiaomi also opened a unified standardized interface and enriched standard protocols, creating the strongest exclusive CarIoT ecosystem.
In order to meet the needs of Apple users, Xiaomi fully supports wireless CarPlay car, and provides exclusive accessories and exclusive applications for iPad on the rear expansion screen.

Xiaomi SU7, the first production car of Xiaomi Automobile, was unveiled simultaneously at the press conference.
Xiaomi SU7 is positioned as a "C-class high-performance eco-technology car", with a body size of 4997mm x 1963mm x 1440mm and a wheelbase of 3000mm. The new car is available in two versions, SU7 and SU7 MAX, which are equipped with Ferrous lithium phosphate and Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited Kirin batteries respectively, with a battery life of 668km and 800km, respectively. It is also available in three body colors: Gulf Blue, Elegant Grey and Olive Green.
In addition, Xiaomi SU7 adopts borderless water drop rearview mirror, cobblestone laser radar and semi-hidden door handle design, and the drag coefficient is as low as 0.195Cd.
In the aspect of intelligent driving, self-developed sensing technology, self-developed adaptive zoom BEV technology, large road model and super-resolution occupation network technology are adopted.
As for the intelligent cockpit, it is equipped with a 16.1-inch 3K resolution central control ecological screen, a 56-inch HUD, a 7.1-inch turnover instrument screen, and two Xiaomi Pad rear expansion screens of the original car system, matching the Snapdragon 8295 cockpit chip, and the AI ? ? computing power is 30TOPS.

Lei Jun said that in the past 1003 days, he often thought of the night when Xiaomi officially announced to build a car on March 30, 2021. In those days, he had a bad cold and a hoarse voice. Before going on stage, it was very difficult to even speak.

For building a car, Lei Jun has a different idea: Xiaomi doesn’t need to make a lot of products, but should focus on making a car first. What Xiaomi wants to build is not an ordinary and mediocre car, but a dream cars comparable to Porsche and Tesla.
